Manual Tips to Manually Backup iPhone Using Itunes. For those of you planning to jailbreak iDevice, iDevice is always recommended to backup first before doing the jailbreak process.

Below are the steps that you can follow to manually backup iPhone using iTunes:

1. Open iTunes from the dock.
2. Connect your iPhone to computer via USB cable, select the iTunes sidebar or from the top-right side of the screen if you are using a new layout model.
3. Make sure you are in the Summary tab, click the big button Back Up Now.
4. Then, the progress bar will tell you the status of ongoing backup.
5. Once the backup is complete then the date and day of the last backup will be updated.
6. To see all the backups that exist in the system, Please select Preferences from the iTunes menu.
7. You can see a list of backups in the Device tab.
8. Done
